SlimSnap is a free screenshot app for Mac and Windows. Every capture saves the image plus a JSON file with each piece of text on screen, its position and color, and any arrows or boxes you drew, linked to the element they point at.
Coding agents like Claude Code, Codex and Cursor read screenshots as downscaled images, so small text gets blurry and the agent guesses which button you meant. With SlimSnap the agent gets the exact text and coordinates instead, and the same screen costs far fewer tokens than the image.
What it does:
• Region, window and scrolling capture, for pages and chats longer than the screen
• Annotate with arrows, boxes, highlights and text
• Copy as PNG, as JSON, or both
• MCP connector for Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor, so the agent fetches your latest capture itself
• Works offline, nothing uploaded
Free, no account, signed for Mac and Windows.
