Effie is a writing software with a built-in mind map feature to help you write immersively. Let your great ideas flow into your mind, then on your digital pages. Write here & there, without distractions.
Effie is a free writing app with a built-in mind map, designed so ideas can move from your head onto the page without distractions. Pairing a mapping space with a writing space is its defining idea. It suits people who want to brainstorm and draft in the same place, and the free price removes any barrier to trying it.
People look elsewhere when their writing is a different kind of work. A novelist may want a workspace built around long-form projects. A daily journaler may want reminders, prompts and analytics. Others want AI assistance, a Google Docs-style editor, a minimalist note-taking app, or a local-first tool for capturing quick ideas. Effie's mix of mind map and writing page does not match all of these, and the alternatives below each cover one of those jobs more directly.
We selected these alternatives because they share Effie's core job: helping someone get words and ideas out of their head and into a digital space. They cover a mix of pricing models, from free to freemium to paid, so you can compare on cost as well as focus. All seven are listed on Uneed, where community votes help show which tools people actually pay attention to. This comparison is based on the product descriptions and listed pricing, not on hands-on testing of each tool.
